Privacy Policy

Ranger Tales is built by a small team that respects your privacy. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what we do with it — plain English first, lawyer language only where the law requires it.
The short version
- We use your location only on your device to play audio when you arrive at a stop. It never touches our servers.
- We collect anonymous, opt-in usage analytics and crash reports to improve the app. No personal identifiers.
- We do not sell your data. We never have, and never will.
- Purchases go through Apple on iOS and Google Play on Android. We never see your name, address, or payment details.
- If you redeem a voucher, you give us an email address (to confirm the unlock) — and an optional marketing opt-in you can decline.
- Delete the app and nothing persists.
1. Who we are
Ranger Tales is published by DreamSeeds Software, a small US-based team. Contact: dreamseedsapp@gmail.com.
2. What we collect
Location data (required for the app to function). We use your phone's GPS to trigger audio playback when you arrive at a trailhead, overlook, or point of interest. Location is processed entirely on your device — we do not send it to our servers, store it, or have access to your location history. You can revoke location permission anytime in your device settings; the app still works in manual-playback mode.
Anonymous usage analytics (optional, opt-in). Which audio plays, how long you listen, which features you use, and crash reports (via Apple's MetricKit) — to fix bugs and make more of what people love. None of it is tied to your name, email, or any personal identifier. Opt out anytime in the app's settings.
Email address (when you redeem a voucher). If you buy a tour through a partner such as Viator and redeem the voucher code in the app, you provide an email address so we can confirm the unlock and send a confirmation. At redemption you may also optionally opt in to occasional emails about new tours — this is entirely your choice, the unlock works either way, and you can unsubscribe at any time. We never sell or rent your email address.
What we do NOT collect: your name (unless you opt into an email list), address, phone, birthday, contacts, photos, calendar, or any data while the app isn't running. We don't collect data from children under 13; the app is for general audiences and not directed at children.
3. Third-party services
Ranger Tales relies on a small number of services, each with its own privacy policy:
- Apple App Store handles downloads and in-app purchases on iOS. apple.com/legal/privacy

- Cloudflare R2 stores our audio & images. Cache requests are not tied to your identity. cloudflare.com/privacypolicy
- OneSignal delivers optional push notifications, only if you opt in. onesignal.com/privacy_policy
- National Park Service API & National Weather Service API — when you view a park's detail screen we may fetch live alerts or weather. No personal data is sent.
4. How we use data
The very limited data we collect is used exclusively to make the audio play at the right place, fix crashes, and decide what tours to build next. That's it.
5. Your rights & choices
You can revoke location access, turn off analytics, or delete the app entirely at any time. Because we don't store personal data on our servers, deleting the app removes your footprint. Questions or requests: dreamseedsapp@gmail.com.
6. Changes
If we update this policy, we'll change the date above. Material changes will be noted in the app.
