The story
The Panorama parking area at Thornton Gap has restrooms and water, and it is the last good place to turn around before Marys Rock Tunnel going south. The resort that once stood here is gone, and nothing has replaced its restaurant. Highway 211 passes under the Drive just north of the lot, between Sperryville and Luray.
This is Thornton Gap, where Highway two eleven runs through between Sperryville and Luray. The lot you just passed on your left has restrooms and water, and there's no food any more.
