The rangers' farewell, plus one last gift if your legs have anything left: Adams Falls and a hemlock older than Columbus.
I'll say this now, while the path is easy and you've got the breath to hear it. You climbed one waterfall canyon and came down another, on the trail Pennsylvania rates its most difficult, and you did it on your feet. That's a real day's work.

And if you've got anything left in your legs when you reach the road, there's one more gift waiting. Adams Falls is only a few hundred feet from the Evergreen parking lot off Route One Eighteen, on the easy one-mile Evergreen Trail. That same little loop passes an eastern hemlock older than the voyage of Columbus. It's a fine way to end the day.
Now get down safe, drink some water, and come back in another season. This glen is a whole different kind of beautiful under the fall color. This has been Ranger Quinn. Watch your footing, all the way down.
