Blue Hill Overlook

The story

The west-facing overlook near the summit, with its own parking lot. The Park Service recommends it for sunset and stargazing.

Blue Hill Overlook is just ahead on your left, with its own parking lot. If you've timed this for evening, pull in. It's the Park Service's pick for sunset and for stars. If the view looks hazy, that may be air pollution, and much of it comes from out of state on southwest winds. There was a small hotel on top of this mountain by eighteen sixty-seven and a second by eighteen eighty-three, and both of them burned in eighteen eighty-four.
